For African Americans AIDS is a leading cause of death.
"In the mist of this crisis where HIV and AIDS is the #1 killer where our race of people is concerned, I salute Lil Wayne as an authority figure for taking a stand to inform our people to use Strapped Condoms and to Stay Strapped for Life," said J. Prince.

Video: Ex-Teacher Gets Six Years in Prison for Sex with Students
Laurens County (WLTX, The Greenville News, AP) -A former middle school teacher has been sent to prison for six years for having sexual encounters with five teenage boys.
In court Tuesday, Allena Ward was remorseful and tearfully asked the community to forgive her. The 24-year-old's father, a minister, also asked the court for forgiveness.
Some of the victims' families attended the sentencing but did not speak during the proceeding.
Ward pleaded guilty last fall to three charges of second degree criminal sexual conduct and three charges of committing lewd acts on a minor.
Ward was a seventh-grade teacher at Bell Street Middle School in Clinton. She was terminated from her position with the school district in March 2007.
Authorities say the married former teacher had sexual encounters with five teenage students. There were reports of incidents at a motel, a park, and behind a restaurant.
The incidents occurred between November 2006 and continued and the early months of 2007.
When she pleaded guilty, Ward apologized to the victim's families, the community, and her school.
During last year's plea hearing, prosecutors read from Ward's personal journal, which described her personal struggle with what she was doing. She wrote that she knew what she was doing wrong, but couldn't stop.
The court also heard written statements from her victims. They describe confusion on their part about why she wanted sex from them.
Police began investigating Ward after a note containing inappropriate messages was given to school officials on February 22. According to investigators, the note was passed during class to one of the boys, then thrown in the trash.

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Robbed in broad daylight -- on a busy Manhattan sidewalk.
Police were looking Friday night for the gunman who robbed and was thought to have shot a talent manager in Midtown. The victim had just made a hefty withdrawal from a nearby bank.

News: Man Withdraws 2 Million From Account With Same Name As His

NEW YORK — A man was charged with withdrawing $2 million from an account after a bank confused him with a man who has the same name.
Benjamin Lovell was arraigned Tuesday on grand larceny charges. The 48-year-old salesman said he tried to tell officials at Commerce Bank in December that he did not have a $5 million account. He says he was told it was his and he could withdraw the money.
Prosecutors said the bank — which advertises itself as America’s Most Convenient Bank — confused Lovell with a Benjamin Lovell who works for a property management company.
The lesser-funded Lovell gave away some of the withdrawn money and blew some of it on gifts, but lost much of it on bad investments, prosecutors said.
The district attorney’s office did not immediately have information on his lawyer. Calls left with Commerce Bank on Wednesday were not immediately returned.

A Shreveport police officer has been fired after an incident in which a female prisoner taken into custody on suspicion of DWI wound up lying on a floor at the police station in a pool of blood.
Much of what happened was recorded on a videotape – but there is a gap of undetermined length. During that time, the woman wound up injured. She said she was beaten up; the officer said she fell.

The rapper walked the red carpet in a black t-shirt that boldly said "N****r" on it. His wife Kelis and a bevy of woman who were dressed in similar garb accompanied the rapper.
The rapper explained his fashion choice to a reporter for CNN.
"Its all the experiences we go through every day, of all ethnicities, Black, White, indifferent. We’ve all at some point felt discriminated on, whether its in Dominican Republic, whether its in China, whether its in Iraq with soldiers getting their heads blown off for reasons we don’t know why,” he reasoned. “The meaning of the word is supposed to be ignorant.”

11th Annual Justo Mixtape Award Nominations
11th Annual Mixtape Awards Nominations Announced
The nominations are in for the 11th Annual Mixtape Awards and no matter what region you hail from, chances are some of your favorite DJs and artists are up for awards. Originally founded by Justo Faison, who died in a May 2005 car accident, the awards seek to honor the often forgotten but essential contributions of the mixtape DJ to the world of hip-hop. Categories include Best Dirty South Mixtape DJ, Best East Coast Mixtape DJ and Best Hip-Hop Mixtape.
The 2008 ceremony will be significant because it will be the first year that the awards will be streamed live online, allowing fans around the world to take part in the festivities. The show will be available on both www.themixtapeawardsonline.com and www.thatshiphop.com. In an effort to put on the best show possible, the event’s organizers have made ambitious plans this year, and as a result, has learned that the show is being rescheduled from its planned February 21 date in order to move to a new venue. As is customary, the venue will remain undisclosed for security reasons.
